Angelique Caba is the Vice President of Programs and Health Equity at CancerCare. In this role, Mrs. Caba is responsible for the oversight of the organization’s extensive portfolio of programs within the Social Service Department across national and regional offices. She leads and facilitates patient advocacy programs designed to inform and empower the oncology community to make informed health care decisions while elevating the patient voices. As a bilingual oncology social worker by training, Mrs. Caba is passionate about health equity and has developed and led efforts of diversity, equity and inclusion within the department and organizationally guiding strategic priorities.

Mrs. Caba is a member of the Association of Oncology Social Work (AOSW), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

Mrs. Caba earned a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Degree from Lehman College and a Master of Science in Social Work (MSW) Degree from Columbia University.

Dr. Magliocco is a medical doctor and board-certified pathologist with expertise in precision
medicine. His work has focused on creating new diagnostic approaches for cancer patients with
the goal of improving the accuracy and efficiency of treatments. To that end, he has invented
new digital imaging approaches to improve the accuracy of cancer diagnosis and selection of
treatments. During his 35 years of experience as a physician, pathologist, professor and scientist,
Dr. Magliocco observed the growing disparities in the ability of cancer patients to access the
advanced diagnostic technology needed for accurate treatment with the latest personalized
cancer therapies. In 2017, Dr. Magliocco founded Protean BioDiagnostics based on his vision
of closing the accessibility gap and making life-saving advanced diagnostic services widely
available to all cancer patients and cancer treatment teams wherever they may live and practice.
He is a key opinion leader for multiple scientific and pharma companies, including Roche, Merck,
BMS, Sanofi, AbbVie, Lilly, AstraZeneca and others.

Barbara Williams Hardy is an award-winning thought leader who is passionate about maximizing organizational and
individual excellence.

As a trusted advisor and ally, Barb integrates people, community, leadership, diversity, belonging, equity and inclusion
strategies with business objectives to maximize experience, commitment, innovation and organizational success. Barb’s
mission is to unlock the untapped brilliance in all of us and her mantra is, "Leadership is a muscle, not a title” She strongly
believes in being the change she likes to see in the world and in growing as an inclusive leader who is fully present in the
moment and acting in the “now.”

In her current leadership role, Barb is the Executive in Residence, Joint Venture Cancer Center (JVCC) for Stanford
Health Care (SHC). As an influencer, she drives innovative alliances as a community connector for the JVCC initiative.
She engages with Bay Area Community Health Organizations to expand access and education and to improve health
outcomes by closing gaps with integrity and heart. As a voice of SHC, she represents and guides the organization to
discover new progressive paths to increase outreach and empower the health and wellbeing of individuals in underserved
communities. Barb enjoys being a bridge to make equitable, accessible quality healthcare for all.

Barb is the former Chief Inclusion, Diversity & Health Equity Officer at SHC, where she led overall direction, strategy and
DEI initiatives. Prior to this role, she was the Global Head of Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging at NetApp and the
Managing Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Oracle.
Barb has served as an executive sponsor and cultural mentor for the U.S. Department of State Tech Women Initiative and
as the Vice-Chair and Commissioner for the Alameda County Commission on the Status of Women. She currently serves
on the Board of Directors for The Lend A Hand Foundation and as the Strategic Advisor and member of the WIT in Haiti
initiative for the Women In Technology (WIT) Network.

Dr. Corinne Leach is the Director of Digital Innovation Services in the Center for Digital Health at Moffitt Cancer Center. Her team is responsible for enabling and accelerating digital healthcare transformation using emerging technologies, optimizing key functions of research, clinical, and other operations with digital capabilities, and facilitating the translation of promising research interventions and ideas into clinical care. She received her PhD in Gerontology from the University of Kentucky, MPH in Quantitative Methods from the T.H. Chan School of Public Health at Harvard, and is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.

David Shalowitz, MD, MSHP is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and Director for Health Equity and Community Outreach at West Michigan Cancer Center Radiation & Surgical Specialties.

Dr. Shalowitz attended medical school at the University of Michigan and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Brigham and Women’s/Massachusetts General Hospitals.  He then received subspecialty training in gynecologic oncology and a master’s degree in health policy research from the University of Pennsylvania.  Dr. Shalowitz also completed a fellowship in clinical bioethics at the National Institutes of Health.

Dr. Shalowitz is a nationally recognized researcher in health equity and access to gynecologic cancer care, and is particularly invested in helping patients who live in rural areas in the United States overcome barriers to receiving high-quality cancer care.  Dr. Shalowitz is a past Chair of the Committee on Ethics for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and continues his research into the intersection between ethics and health policy related to access to cancer care.  Dr. Shalowitz also leads the Collaborative on Equity in Rural Cancer Care (CERCC), a national, multidisciplinary group of researchers committed to improving health equity for rural patients with cancer.

Debbie Weir joined Cancer Support Community in March 2022 as the organization’s Chief
Executive Officer. She is a visionary, passionate, and values-driven leader focused on making an
impact. A social worker by training, Debbie has more than 30 years of proven success in
nonprofit management in the areas of capacity building, programs and services, fund
development, advocacy, strategic planning, and expanding visibility and influencing
stakeholders to support mission priorities.

Debbie understands in a deeply personal way the impact of a cancer diagnosis and the critical
importance of CSC’s mission to serve patients and their loved ones. She lost her father to
suicide after a lengthy, debilitating cancer diagnosis and treatment, cared for her mom who is a
breast cancer survivor, and recently served for several months as her brother’s primary
caregiver until his death from cancer.

Debbie came to CSC from Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention
organization in the country with over 10 million supporters, including moms, mayors, survivors,
students, and everyday Americans. Debbie focused on developing and executing the strategy
for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and the Everytown Survivor Network, while
implementing new initiatives, including Students Demand Action and programs focused on gun
suicide prevention.

Before joining Everytown, Debbie served as the Chief Executive Officer of Mothers Against
Drunk Driving (MADD), leading the network of more than 200 MADD affiliates across the U.S.
and spearheading efforts to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, serve the victims of
these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking. During Debbie’s MADD tenure, she played
a major role in securing Congressional endorsements in MAP-21 for MADD’s Campaign to
Eliminate Drunk Driving. This included the authorization and funding for a research program on
drunk driving prevention technology, incentives to states to adopt all-offender ignition interlock
laws, and high visibility law enforcement programs. Under her leadership, MADD expanded
victim services serving support to a victim/survivor every 15 minutes. Before her work at
MADD, Debbie built and directed St. Paul’s Hospice program in Dallas for 9 years after leading
the Social Services Department at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth for 4 years.

Debbie holds a master’s degree in social work from Norfolk State University and a Bachelor of
Science in Social Work from Longwood College. Her volunteer work includes serving on the
National Board of Directors of the Nonprofit Alliance and Safe Kids Worldwide. Debbie also
serves as a volunteer on MADD’s National Helpline and with Everytown’s Survivor Network.

Dr. Robinson leads Moffitt’s Center for Digital Services, and Digital Innovation to expand Moffitt’s ecosystem to deliver on consumer-oriented, real-world solutions for clinical practice, research, education, and administrative processes. The Center for Digital Health creates and tests new services, programs, partnerships, and technologies that leverage digital innovations, while challenging the status quo to reduce the cost of care, improve quality, increase access to care, and enhance the patient experience. In addition he directly care for Moffitt patients as part of the Internal and Hospital Medicine Program.

Previously, Dr Robinson was the Chief Transformation Officer and Senior Vice President of Consumerism at ChristianaCare, one of the largest health systems in mid-Atlantlic. He was responsible for the transformation of health care delivery to advance population health initiatives and the move from volume-based to value-based care with a special focus on developing and managing ChristianaCare’s consumerism and digital strategies.

Dr Robinson is an associate professor at University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine. He is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians and a senior fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine. He holds a medical degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles; an MBA with an emphasis in healthcare management from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania; and a master’s degree in health policy research also from the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Esther Kim, ScD, RD, LDN is the Global Medical Affairs Oncology Innovation in Care Lead at AstraZeneca, a new group focused on optimizing engagement and finding innovative solutions for clinicians, and for patients during their cancer journey.  She was most recently the Executive Director of Digital Health Innovation, a team working across Mass General Brigham’s hospitals, accelerating innovative healthcare technology pilots. She was formerly the Program Director for the one of Massachusetts’ largest Medicaid ACO and one of the nation’s largest Medicare ACOs at Mass General Brigham, building new programs and supports for high risk and vulnerable patients.  She received her Doctorate of Science in Nutritional Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health with a focus on cancer and dietary factors.

Dr. Weese spent most of his career as an Academic Surgical Oncologist with special interest in
Pancreatic, Hepatobiliary and Gastrointestinal cancers. He currently runs the Cancer program for
Advocate Health, Midwest Region, overseeing the care of over 20,000 new cancer patients yearly. In
additional to his clinical interests he is very active in the standardization of evidence based care across
the system. Elsevier Clinical Pathways which are evidence based and prioritize clinical treatment
offering clinical trials as first priority, followed by treatment algorithms ranked by efficacy, then toxicity,
then cost. He has also helped develop the use of high definition videoconferencing to bring
multidisciplinary disease specific conferences and clinics to patients and physicians throughout our
region. Advocate Health, Midwest is now in the 9 th year of an $11.7 Million NCORP grant from the
National Cancer Institute to bring clinical trials to all of our patients and facilitated delivering this type of
care close to home.

John Russell is the Founder of JFR Health Strategies where he collaborates with healthcare organizations
to design strategies to advance health innovations for patients and communities.

Most recently, he was the Director of Cancer Care at Fred Hutch Cancer Center, where he oversees a
strategic partnership between Fred Hutch and Overlake Cancer Center in the greater Seattle region. This
partnership is focused on expanding high-quality cancer care and services to patients in the community. Over the past three years, he has focused on driving patient and financial growth, improving the patient
experience, and expanding clinical and research programs in the community.

Prior to Fred Hutch, he worked for the Strategy and Innovation Group at Memorial Sloan Kettering
Cancer Center (MSK) in NYC. He led several cross-functional strategy teams to design and implement
strategic plans to expand MSK into new market segments, innovate new care delivery models, and pilot
digital health tools. He spent most of his time working closely with MSK’s cancer prevention and high-
risk programs, including the cancer survivorship program, to design new approaches to engage
populations for cancer screening and early cancer detection.

He is currently a doctoral student in Public Health (DrPH) at George Washington University’s Milken
Institute for Public Health where he has partnered with global cancer organizations to research the
efficacy of National Cancer Control Plans in LMICs.

He received a Master of Public Administration in Health Policy and Management from New York
University’s Wagner School for Public Service, where he focused his research on understanding the
challenges to the growing burden of NCDs, with a particular interest in global oncology. He received his
Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies from Brigham Young University.

Kimberly Sanders, MPA is Director of Community Outreach at Taussig Cancer Institute. Together with her team of patient navigators and program managers, Kimberly aims to educate, influence, and support underserved families in our community.

Kimberly is a committed and passionate leader with 20 years of experience in community outreach and patient navigation. Prior to joining Taussig, she was a Center Director for Northeast Ohio Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., where she provided direct assistance to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the capacity of administration and oversight of several Community Health Centers.

Kimberly holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Cleveland State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Cincinnati. She is an active  Advisory Board member for Susan G. Komen and Board President for Jordan Community Resource Center.

Dr. Laura Makaroff is a primary care physician and Senior Vice President of Prevention and Survivorship
at the American Cancer Society, where she leads a team of public health experts and clinicians in
building on the organization’s rich history to improve cancer prevention, early detection, and
survivorship to end cancer as we know it for everyone. Prior to joining ACS, Dr. Makaroff served as a
Senior Clinical Advisor for the Bureau of Primary Health Care at the Health Resources Services
Administration (HRSA). Dr. Makaroff completed a fellowship in health policy at Georgetown University
and The Robert Graham Center in Washington, DC and completed her residency in family medicine at
the University of Colorado. Her professional and personal lives collided in an unexpected way when her
husband, Jason, was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in 2021. She credits his diagnosis and
their cancer journey with adding to her life in ways she never wanted but always needed. As she carries
on Jason’s legacy, she is raising two young boys and is more committed than ever to helping reduce the
burden of cancer for patients and families around the world.

Lisa Lurie is the Co-Founder of Cancer Be Glammed, an author, speaker, and patient activist.
She is a breast cancer survivor who experienced first-hand how devastating a cancer diagnosis
can be following a double mastectomy, an oophorectomy and chemotherapy. Lisa received
excellent medical care but struggled to find support to help her to manage the appearance and
lifestyle challenges she faced from surgery and treatment. As she describes it, “I felt like a
cancer-created Humpty-Dumpty, I didn’t know how to put myself (or my life) back together
again.”

In 2010, Lisa co-founded Cancer Be Glammed, the first lifestyle company for women recovering
from all forms of cancer. She launched her website, CancerBeGlammed.com to educate and
empower women to have a well-informed, better-prepared and life-made-easier recovery from
diagnosis through survivorship. Today Cancer Be Glammed has a global reach and collaborates
closely with support groups, health and wellness organizations, and oncology professionals,
particularly nurses and patient-navigators to help women manage the psychosocial challenges
of cancer.

Liudmila Schafer, MD, FACP, is a board-certified and award-winning medical oncologist, former Associate Professor of Medicine, and certified Teacher-Scholar in cancer education. Dr. Schafer also served as principal investigator and co-investigator for clinical trials and holds certification in Translational Research in cancer. She gave the TEDx talk “Awaken your Organic Bravery” and author of the book “The Other Side of Oncology, and she guided the book “Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.”

 

She has a wealth of experience speaking about cancer education, value-based oncology care, burnout in the oncology industry, artificial intelligence in healthcare, and international women’s conferences on empowerment, among a few. She spoke at regional, national, and international conferences, including at the International Association of Cancer Education (IACE) and internationally in Dubai and Paris, the Association of Value-Based Cancer Care, and the Society of Hospital Medicine, among a few.

 

Dr. Schafer is the CEO and Founder of The Doctor Connect Professional Corporation, focusing on aligning healthcare organizations and non-healthcare industries, forging partnerships that elevate public health awareness and provide trusted information to empower individuals to take control of their well-being.

 

As a medical trainee and healthcare professional mentor, she laid the groundwork for a physician’s education curriculum in hematology/oncology. Dr. Schafer served on many national and institutional committees, including the Membership Committee and the Executive Council of the American Association for Cancer Education (AACE), the Women’s Faculty Development Caucus Mentoring Committee (WFDC) for medical students and faculty, and the Institutional Review Board (IRB), name a few.

 

She has published work in peer-to-peer journals, served on regional and national committees, has been featured on regional and national television, and in multiple publications. She is published in numerous medical journals and has appeared on national and international media, including FORBES, FOX News, National Geographic, New York Post, YAHOO, Bloomberg, ABC, NBC,  Thrive Global, Research to Practice, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology, and over hundred outlets.

Dr. Schafer is a big advocate for improvement in the health industry.

Madalina Sucala is a behavioral scientist and digital health strategist with over 12 years of
experience in leveraging digital health in cancer care. She brings a combination of academic and
industry acquired expertise in developing, testing, and optimizing digital health technologies,
applying a human centric approach to achieve inclusive reach and wider patient impact.

Madalina Sucala is a Director of Digital Health Science, Oncology R&D, AstraZeneca. Madalina
has a PhD in Clinical Psychology and completed her postdoctoral training in Behavioral
Medicine – Cancer Prevention and Control, at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She also
has an MBA from Cornell University, and an MS in Healthcare Policy and Research from Weill
Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences.

As an entrepreneur with a mind for numbers and a heart for service, Meg Moore has spent her career looking for creative solutions to hard problems. A co-founder of several firms, Meg has sought opportunities to increase equity in education, public services, and supportive care. Her two decades of board service have been focused on similar issues.

Meg has been working on cancer projects for seven years. She was the initial author of the business plan for the project that has grown into the Central Texas Addressing Cancer Together (CTX-ACT) project that has now been acquired by United Way of Central Texas. This initiative supports cancer care for underserved patients across the metropolitan service area surrounding Austin.

In addition to her work at Livestrong, Meg performs cancer research with the Townsend Laboratory at the Yale School of Public Health, supporting their work to understand the mutations that lead to cancer. Melissa Habedank is the Vice President of External Relations at the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) in the Washington, DC Metro Area. In this role, she manages the partnerships, education and policy portfolios, and she leads on select fundraising and communications initiatives. Melissa began her career in health legislation and advocacy, spending nearly a decade working in the U.S. Congress to develop and pass health, nutrition and education legislation before moving along to public health research and health promotion campaigns in East Africa and South Asia. Immediately prior to joining AICR, Melissa was the Director of Strategy and Innovation and Interim Director of Quality Improvement for a multi-county network of federally qualified health centers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Melissa holds a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Gustavus Adolphus College.

Ms. McKinney leads the strategic transformation of Kaiser Permanente’s cancer care, using
implementation science to guide the integration of evidence into care delivery and design equitable,
patient-informed interventions. Prior to joining KP, Ms. McKinney was the Director of Clinical Pathways
and Implementation Science at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. Ms.
McKinney’s clinical background in oncology nursing. She managed multiple inpatient units and was
Assistant Director of Patient Care Services during her 15-year tenure at Roswell Park.

Since 2016, Ms. McKinney has moderated and chaired the Clinical Pathways Forum, a Community of
Practice for pathways professionals from across the United States who are utilizing clinical pathways in
their practices and institutions to improve cancer care. She is a column writer and serves on the
Editorial Board for the Journal of Clinical Pathways.

Ms. McKinney holds a Master of Science degree in Health Administration from Roberts Wesleyan
College in Rochester, NY, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Simmons College in Boston, MA and a
Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Economic Development from Mount Holyoke College in
South Hadley, MA. She is a graduate of the Implementation Science program at the University of
California, San Francisco, CA and is an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).

Nigel Brockton is the Vice President of Research at American Institute for Cancer Research
(AICR). Dr. Brockton earned his PhD in the genetic epidemiology of colorectal cancer from the
University of Aberdeen in 2003 followed by post-doctoral studies at the University of Dundee.
Before joining AICR in 2017, he was a Research Scientist/ Associate Professor with Alberta
Health Services/ University of Calgary conducting population-based molecular epidemiology
research, studying the role of modifiable lifestyle factors and prognostic markers in cancer-
related outcomes, particularly in breast, colorectal and oral cancer patients.

 

As the Vice President of Research for AICR, he oversees all research-related aspects of the
organization including the Research Grant Programs, the AICR Research Conference and
symposium and the research that supports AICR’s policy objectives and AICR printed and
digital materials. He also contributes to the WCRF/AICR Global Cancer Update Program (CUP
Global) that reviews, analyses and summarizes the global literature regarding diet, physical
activity, obesity and cancer.

 

He maintains an appointment (adjunct Associate Professor) at the University of Calgary,
Department of Community Health Sciences, and continues to conduct collaborative research
using the rich data and biospecimen resources within the prospective longitudinal cohorts that
he established in Alberta. These studies examine the patterns of adherence to lifestyle
recommendations among cancer patients, the impact of modifiable lifestyle factors on cancer
metastasis and survival and provide data and biospecimens for external collaborative projects.

Rachel Cannady is the American Cancer Society’s Strategic
Director of Caregiving, where she provides leadership and
strategic decision-making to position the organization as a
prominent champion in elevating the critical role and needs of
caregivers. She is responsible for developing a nationwide
strategic framework for coordinating, communicating, and
integrating interdisciplinary and inter-organizational caregiver
research and program dissemination and implementation.
During her 23-year tenure at the Society, she has also managed
some of the nation’s largest, longitudinal dyadic studies of
quality of life among cancer survivors and their caregivers,
resulting in nearly 50 scientific publications. From this
research, Ms. Cannady developed the first-ever suite of evidence-informed resources for
caregivers ranging from psychoeducational materials to care training and self-care videos.

For the past 25 years Sally has worked in diversified Healthcare Systems, Non-profit and For-
profit hospitals, and provided executive operational oversight for all areas of cancer service
lines, including cancer research, cancer registry, supportive and outreach services, radiation
oncology, infusion centers, inpatient oncology units and centers for breast health. She has also
had operational oversight for home care, hospice, and palliative care service lines.
As Chief Experience Officer of CSC, Sally has the distinct pleasure of supporting all aspects of
service delivery. This includes health equity initiatives, network partners, a cancer helpline,
educational and training offerings, program development, as well as strategic growth. Sally and
her team ensure that the mission of CSC’s Institute for Excellence in Psychosocial Care is carried
out with fidelity in local communities across the globe.

Prior to joining AON, Ms. Glenn was the chief development and community partnership officer at Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute (FCS) where she played a key role in bringing the organization to the forefront of community oncology. She oversaw critical growth initiatives as well as efforts to strengthen patient advocacy and community partnerships.

Prior to joining FCS in 2012, she was vice president of marketing and sales for Vantage Oncology, a radiation oncology organization based in Atlanta. While at Vantage, she was responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase patient volume and the profile of the company. Shelly was formerly the chief administrative officer for Park ‘N Fly and previously held positions with increasing sales and marketing responsibilities at The Care Group, Roche Professional Service Centers and Sandoz Nutrition.

Shelly received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Lehigh University and a Global Leadership designation from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Dedicated to increasing cancer awareness and education, Ms. Glenn is on the corporate council of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the board of directors of the Jack & Jill Late-Stage Cancer Foundation.  Additionally, Shelly actively participates on the oncology advisory board of PatientPoint, Women of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (founding member) and was a 2018 Tampa Bay Business Journal’s Businesswoman of the Year finalist in addition to a 2021 Tampa Bay Business and Wealth’s Philanthropist of the Year finalist.

For the past 23 years Tracey has worked in diversified program systems focused on fields such as
Geriatrics, Spirituality, Healthcare and Non-Profit management. Tracey is a Vice President of Programs
for Cancer Care Services who brings about organizational change in the areas of strategic planning,
advocacy, data integration and analysis, programs and services implementation, and process
organization. She is known for innovative, creative thinking and has been credited with encompassing an
authentic, influential leadership style.

In her role as Vice President, Tracey understands and creates efficiently organized processes and
projects to promote improving the access of oncology care to all individuals impacted by cancer. Recent
projects initiatives include health equity and access to care, case management strategic plans, increasing
educational offerings in her community, outcome measurement, and local government/Federal
Government grant program development.

Tracey serves on numerous committees, engages in public speaking, and offers consultations around
varying topics, such as data collection, implementation and analysis, outcome development, and
program development. Tracey has mentored over 30 individuals in the fields of social work, counseling,
and public health, including serving as Field Supervisor in social work for over 20 of those individuals. In
2016, Tracey was elected for a one-year leadership role within an organization in Tarrant County that
raised over $30,000 to support LBGT+ agencies and initiatives. She currently supports the arts through
her involvement as Secretary and Board Member with The Fleetwood Project in Mansfield, Texas. She is
an adjunct professor for the 2023-2024 school year at Texas Christian University in the field of Social
Work.

Tracey holds a Master of Science in Social Work from University of Texas-Arlington, a Bachelor of Liberal
Arts from Concordia University, and has collected over 3,000 hours in clinical social work education.
